They are required to be professional in all their interactions with the membership and vigorously represent their segment of the industry. Show respect to all other council members. They make the effort to be informed and knowledgeable of the industry and stay up to date with the membership's requests for actions or solutions. Must have a fair and open-minded approach to developing approaches and solutions to identified and directed industry concerns or problems.
Must be willing to speak to the membership about the Driver's Council's actions and proposals observing the mandate for complete transparency within the Alliance.
Members will be required to attend quarterly virtual meetings of the total council to oversee and receive results from last meeting while setting actions and goals for the next meeting. Duration of the meeting 90 to 120 minutes.
The 4 Standing workgroups of the Driver Council will virtually meet weekly for 60 min. (Time of Day TBD) They will be following-up on current actions in the works and planning goals and outcomes for presentation to the entire council. Monthly reports will be published in the form of working papers and video productions.
All virtual meetings will be recorded and reviewable by the council members and requesting members. The Driver's Council and Workgroups will have a Private Forum to make comments and share information outside the formal meetings.
The estimate on Council Member's time is 6-10 hours per month. Workgroup member only would meed to allow for 4-8 hours per month. Requirements to attend scheduled live meeting are 3 out of every 4. If you miss 3 in a row, without excusable reasons, you will be subject to removal by vote of a simple majority of the council or effected workgroup.
This inaugural Council is chosen by interviews and review of the candidates experience and driving career. Their past actions being active in the industries challenges and their reputation amongst their peers are all important. There is a balance of all types of CDL holders within the group based on their individual segment within the industry on a percentage basis. (example - Of the 32 chosen council members, 18 will be over the road freight hauling with varying rigs - at least 6 will be women as School Buses, Motor Coaches, Service and Construction Truck Drivers will also be included in the make-up.)
